in 1989, Georgian Audio Video began as a Georgian
Car Audio at 453 Hume St. in Collingwood selling Car Stereo Equipment, car stereo and cellular phones. “High quality home Audio and Video Equipment was his passion and experience but he was unsure the local market would support a business in this field. The first few years were a struggle. Some of the top high end manufacturers would not authorize the store to sell their products. After a lot of convincing, as well as a lot of renovating, gradually the store’s technical reputation spread, more and more high fidelity buffs insisted on purchasing from the little store in Collingwood. One by one, the manufacturers began to officially authorize Lovegrove to sell their products. The store continued to grow. At the time, the store was called “Georgian Car Audio.” As its reputation grew, the name had to change.....in 1993 Georgian Audio Video was born. The store prospered, particularly well after forming an alliance with AVU. AVU stands for Audio Video Unlimited. A Vancouver based marketing / purchasing group made up of 70 specialty, independent retailers across Canada. Also, proud members of Cantrex / Volumax. The largest consumer electronics buying group in Canada. We are also proud members of CEDIA (Custom Electronics Design and Installation Assoc.). Georgian Audio Video’s motto, “Friendly, personal, PROFESSIONAL attention, EXPERT sales and installation and guaranteed low prices”. Throughout our 20-year history, quality products, top sales associates and service personnel, and uncompromising customer service have been Georgian Audio Video’s hallmarks. Georgian Audio Video made an important shift from an emphasis on the traditional “box” business (seen at most electronics retailers) to a focus on installed systems. As the complexity of these installed systems has evolved, Georgian Audio Video’s Custom Installation Division has become a major component of the company. With the addition of some of the top professionals in the industry (both commercial and home), drawn from around Ontario, Georgian Audio Video can assist you with any project. As technology changed, the thought was to change our environment. With Collingwood & the Georgian Triangle's prosperity, population and building boom, it was decided that a new location on the west side of town was in order. The new store at 15 Balsam Street opened in September of 2007. This was also a terrific opportunity to integrate these new technologies into the showroom. The result....is a consumer electronics showroom and demonstration center that is truly extraordinary! Extremely well merchandised for discerning clients shopping for exceptional value and service in high quality, High Definition Audio & Video, but also completely set up to emulate the Fully Automated home!! At the present time, not only is Georgian Audio Video fully capable of installing state-of-the-art home theater systems, we are also involved with multi-room audio/video and home automation systems that are at the cutting-edge of consumer electronics technology.
